Board of Directors Meeting
June 10, 2009
Minutes

Call to Order: 6:31pm

Board of Directors:
Madie Greene, Glen Bousquet, Andrew Dauz, Myrene Wold, Francis Malani, Mark Workman, Paul Martinez, & Al Kualii.

  • Resignation of David Deweese as of May 13, 2009
  • Eleanor Shannon- Candidate to serve on the Board.
  • Andrew Dauz moves to nominate Eleanor Shannon to the Board of Directors. Paul Martinez seconds the motion. All in favor, motion passes.


Community Report: Officer Daniel Rances: Crime is still low; however it is on the rise. Make sure that you call the police about any suspicious behavior. Officer Rances is continually recommending that everyone take pictures of their belongings, with any serial numbers or markings that prove that they are yours, and keep it in a secure location. 


Nanawale Crime Stats:
Burglaries: 1 out of 65 in the district. Communal Property Damage: 1 out of 44 in the district. Robberies: 0. Theft: 0 out of 144 in the district. Stolen Vehicles: 1 in Nanawale (Friend borrowed car and never returned) out of 9 in the district. Assault: 0. And 143 other calls, Officer Rances would like to see this number a bit higher, the more calls the more officers will be present in the association.
There is a new burglary task detail team here in Puna; you will now have the ability to speak with a detective stationed here in Puna.
Lastly, there is an online police survey, if anyone has time please fill the survey out.

Guest Speaker:

  • Laurie Chan- T-Mobile Cell Phone Tower: Proposed site location: Hana & Hapuu, locate the Tower in the very middle, only a 100 foot pole with six antennas. With a chain link fence, & backup generator. They addressed the community members’ concerns. No decision has been made yet.


Minutes: Myrene Wold moves to accept minutes as written, Andrew Dauz seconds. All in favor, motion passes.

Reports to be accepted into record:

  • Treasurers report: Glen Bousquet motions to accept report as written, Myrene Wold seconded. All in favor, motion passes.
  • Staff Report: Andrew Dauz motions to accept report as written, Myrene Wold Seconded. All in favor, motion passes.

Committee Report:

  • Nomination Committee: Albert Kualii has been nominated as the Chairperson. Albert Kualii has nominated Minerva Chenoweth and Stephanie Souza as his committee.
  • Architectural Committee: Andrew Dauz volunteers to be the committee chairperson temporarily. Year to Date: Six illegal structures removed, and thirty two known illegal structures.
  • Policy Committee: Myrene Wold needs to set a date for a meeting; Eleanor Shannon has offered to be on the committee.
  • Team Action Nanawale- Francis Malani: The TAN and Men of Pa’a did a “Appliance Pickup” on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 8am to 2pm. They removed 15 appliances from the association; they would like to plan another clean up day where they pick up batteries, paint, etc…
  • Neighborhood Watch: Mary Lou Beardsley has joined the Neighborhood Patrol.
  • Environmental Committee- Glen Bousquet: It’s still hard to get delinquent owners to take down dangerous trees, but we’ve been making some headway.
  • Frankie Stapleton: Formally requests that the association look into removing the trees on the Nanawale property line, on the very top of Nanawale Blvd.
  • Recreational Committee: Back to school Blow Out has been canceled. The car wash has been rescheduled for July 18, 2009 at the Solid Rock Ministries in Pahoa from 8am to 12pm.


Unfinished business:

  • Playground Equipment Update (Andrew Dauz): New equipment up just needs a coat of paint and fencing.
  • Lanai Street Park (Andrew Dauz): The maintenance men have been moving the excess soil at Nanawale to the new park. The maintenance men have agreed to address the park every Friday as part of their Friday schedule.

New Business:

  • Projected plans for NCA: Road Work, Painting Longhouse: Andrew Dauz: Would like the Board to vote on what issues we would like to address first: Roads, especially roads with hills. Then address the painting of the longhouse.
