Community Affliates

Kanaka Ha'aheo means Strong Men & Women and is a volunteer group made up of various people in the surrounding communities that have banded together to serve the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kanaka Ha'aheo facilitates and participates in many different community events and projects. If there is an event or project, you can depend on them to participate or be there.

Hawaiian Beaches Food Pantry

1. Food Pantry participants must wear masks upon entering

2. Kanaka Ha'aheo will line-up food pantry participants to register each car and family

3. Please stay in your cars and Kanaka Ha'aheo will place the food pantry items in the truck or back of your vehicle.

4. Once your food pantry items are in your car, please vacate the area.

Since May 2020, Kanaka Ha'aheo has stepped up to serve the community of Nanawale.  The volunteer group assists our County Council District 4 Representative, Ashley Kierkiewicz, in partnership with Chef Hui and other community partners, distribute over 150 bags of food each week to those who RSVP for a bag online.

Since the ending of September 2020, In partnership with NCA along with Kanaka Ha'aheo recieved funds from the County of Hawai'i CARES grant to support local businesses and farmers in Puna.

The Nanawale Resilience Hub is honored to have a business that made its humble beginnings here at the Nanawale longhouse called Panchos Tacos who provides our community with family dinners each Friday.
